As the eldest of four children, I spent my childhood in Duval, a locality in L’Asile, Nippes, Haiti. I am a first-generation college graduate, with an MBA, and a successful Production Manager.

My educational background has equipped me to resolve conflicts, communicate efficiently, drive results, boost productivity and performance, foster a spirit of teamwork, manage time effectively, meet customer expectations, reduce expedited processes, and identify and empower top talent.

MBA at UoPeople and Job Opportunities

My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in project management. I decided to pursue an MBA primarily because of my passion for management. However, the driving force behind my decision to pursue an MBA was a challenging period in my life. I moved to the United States with my family because of certain personal circumstances and realized soon after moving that I needed to arm myself with an American-accredited college degree to excel in the American job market.

While researching various universities, I encountered University of the People. Affordability was a game-changer for me, as the tuition costs at other universities were prohibitive. UoPeople stood out as a university that offered high-quality education without imposing tuition fees on students worldwide. My experience with UoPeople was exceptionally positive. The onboarding process was seamless, and the instructors and program advisors displayed a solid commitment to their roles, readily addressing the needs of students like me. One of the most enriching aspects of my experience was the opportunity to collaborate with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds. We could share our unique experiences, cultures, and concerns throughout the program. From the beginning of my journey with UoPeople to its conclusion, I can confidently say that I have no complaints.

The case studies and discussion forums in my MBA training allowed me to interact with peers and instructors. We explored different approaches and tried different perspectives. All of those skills have come in handy while navigating operations management at different workplaces.

I receive job offers from reputable companies. I am glad to have finished my master’s degree without drowning myself in debt.

The Juggling Act and the Ease of Flexibility

During my time at UoPeople, I had the dual responsibilities of working as an Operations Manager and a consultant, all while balancing various family obligations. This juggling act was undoubtedly challenging but UoPeople’s flexible approach to education proved to be a lifeline. This flexibility allowed me to carefully plan my schedule and allocate 15 to 25 hours each week to reading, completing assignments, and engaging in discussions with my peers. I successfully navigated my coursework, passing all my courses with flying colors. I graduated in March 2023.

Why I Love Being a Production Manager

My journey as a manager began in Haiti when I joined Refrigeration and Climatization SA, a service company specializing in climate control and refrigeration services for some of the largest companies in Haiti. In this role, I was responsible for overseeing technicians, managing logistics, planning all operational activities, and maintaining communication with suppliers and customers. During this time, I discovered my passion for this position and my ability to excel in it. As a Production Manager, I find myself in a leadership position where I am responsible for making crucial decisions, engaging in critical thinking, problem-solving, empowering teams, and effectively managing various resources—be they human, financial, or material.

Upon moving to the USA, I continued my career in management. I worked for a mid-sized staffing company that provided highly skilled workers to prominent companies across various industries. The skills I acquired through my studies at UoPeople have proven to be instrumental in effectively managing my team and making informed decisions, particularly during challenging times.

I wholeheartedly recommend an MBA program to anyone wanting to build a career in operations/production management.    An MBA degree will help you build a dynamic and rewarding career.
