World’s First Tuition-free Certificate Programs for Career Advancement

Pasadena, California (June 15, 2021) – Non-degree certificate programs have been skyrocketing in popularity in recent years because they can help students land their first job out of college and assist professionals in moving up the corporate ladder or with a career transition. Adding to their popularity, many certificate programs take less time and money to complete than an undergraduate degree.

To meet this rising demand, University of the People (UoPeople) has created the world’s first tuition-free, undergraduate, non-degree certificate programs in business administration and health science, with plans to add additional programs in the near future. As a tuition-free university, UoPeople offers a cost-effective alternative to traditional American universities, cutting the cost by up to 95%.

“Tuition-free” means that unlike other universities, UoPeople doesn’t charge students for taking courses. UoPeople also doesn’t charge students to enroll or pay for books and other course materials. To help support the university’s continued operation, UoPeople charges a $60 application fee and an Assessment Fee per course completed ($120 for the undergraduate and certificate programs). That means, a bachelor’s degree can be completed in 4 years for $4,860, a certificate program in business administration can be completed in less than a year for $420, and a certificate in health science can be completed in less than a year for $540.

“Today’s employers increasingly value certificate programs because they demonstrate that a student has mastered specific knowledge and skills that will help them be successful in their careers,” said UoPeople President Shai Reshef. “University of the People is committed to helping our students gain an advantage when it comes to employment opportunities and these certificate programs are a great addition to our tuition-free undergraduate and graduate degree programs.”
