About Yobe State University
Yobe State University (YSU), also known by its former name Bukar Abba Ibrahim University, is a state-owned university in Damaturu, Yobe State, north-eastern Nigeria. A state committee’s blueprint for educational development recommended a university for Yobe State, and then-Governor Bukar Abba Ibrahim established the institution in 2006, with a planning committee, chaired by Professor Muhammad Nur Alkali, beginning take-off preparations in January 2007. YSU comprises five faculties, including Arts, Social and Management Science, Science, and Law.
As a state-owned university, YSU offers a comparatively accessible pathway to higher education for Yobe State residents, with a general JAMB cut-off mark that has ranged between 140 and 160 across recent admission cycles.
