About Tai Solarin Federal University Of Education
Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED), Ijagun, is located along the Sagamu-Ore-Benin Expressway in Ijagun, near Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria. It was established by the Ogun State Government under Governor Gbenga Daniel on 29 January 2005, evolving from the Tai Solarin College of Education, itself a transformation of the Ogun State College of Education, the first tertiary institution established by Ogun State after its creation in 1976. The National Universities Commission approved the institution on 28 November 2005 as Nigeria’s 76th university and its first specialized university of education. It is named after Dr. Tai Solarin, a renowned Nigerian educationist and human rights activist who founded the Mayflower School, Ikenne. On 7 March 2025, President Bola Tinubu’s administration adopted the university as a federal institution, transitioning it from state to federal ownership. TASUED/TASFUED comprises six colleges plus a postgraduate school: the College of Specialised and Professional Education, College of Science and Information Technology, College of Humanities, College of Social and Management Sciences, College of Vocational and Technical Education, and College of Agriculture and Human Ecology Management.
The university describes itself as “the Nation’s Premier University of Education.”
