Mountain Top University

Mountain Top University (MTU) is a private university in Makogi Oba, Ogun State, Nigeria, at Kilometre 12 on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in “Prayer City,” about 12km northeast of Lagos. It was founded by the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), a Pentecostal Christian denomination established in 1989 by Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya. The National Universities Commission granted MTU a provisional licence in 2015, and the university held its formal opening and inaugural matriculation ceremony on 21 December 2015. MTU is structured as a confederation of two colleges: Basic and Applied Sciences, and Humanities, Management and Social Sciences, spanning 15 departments, and offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and open distance e-learning (ODeL) programmes.

MTU’s motto is “Empowered to Excel.” The university is known for strict enforcement of spiritual activities and for having one of the strongest music departments in Nigeria. Following a 2024 NUC evaluation, MTU received full accreditation for programmes including Food Science and Technology, Biology, Biotechnology, Mass Communication, and Music.
