About Baze University
Baze University is a private university in Abuja, Nigeria, established in 2011 by Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, a Nigerian economist, politician, and philanthropist who later ran as vice-presidential candidate on the Labour Party ticket in Nigeria’s 2023 general election. The university received its provisional NUC licence in March 2011 and began academic activities with a handful of lecturers and just 17 students in a single building; enrollment had grown to around 1,300 by 2014. Baze now offers programs across 10 schools and faculties, including Computer Science and Information Technology, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Law, Management and Social Sciences, Medical and Health Sciences, and Natural and Applied Sciences.
The university commissioned the Baze University Teaching Hospital in October 2021, with funding support from Stanbic IBTC Bank. In 2017, Baze partnered with the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) to embed ACCA curriculum into its programs.
