Nizamuddin A., Business Administration, Afghanistan

Based out of Kabul, Afghanistan, Nizamuddin A. is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at University of the People, navigating life in a place where access to stable opportunities is often uncertain. But he remains focused on building a future shaped by education, leadership, and community impact.

Nizamuddin grew up in a middle-class family where education was always valued, even during difficult times. He began his schooling in 2007 at Mohammad Faqir Firozi Boys High School and graduated in 2019. Alongside his academic interests, he developed a deep passion for football, which continues to be an important part of his identity.

Reflecting on his early years, he shares, “Whether in the classroom or on the field, I was always motivated to improve and take on responsibility.”

After graduating from high school, Nizamuddin moved to the United Arab Emirates in search of broader opportunities. There, he spent several years involved in sports and small business activities, gaining valuable experience. However, upon returning to Afghanistan, he encountered a much more challenging environment.

“Coming back to Afghanistan was not easy. Job opportunities were limited, and the situation around me was constantly changing. Financially, it was difficult to continue my education, especially with the rising costs of internet and technology. Sometimes I had to rely on shared resources just to stay connected to my classes. But these challenges taught me resilience and forced me to stay focused on my long-term goals.”

Determined to continue his education, he began searching for an affordable and flexible university option that would allow him to study from Afghanistan. That search led him to UoPeople.

“I was looking for an affordable, accredited American university that I could access from anywhere. What stood out to me about UoPeople was its mission to make higher education accessible to everyone, regardless of financial situation or location. I decided to enroll because I saw it as a real opportunity to continue my education without giving up on my responsibilities.”

Upon enrolling at UoPeople, he quickly adapted to the structure of online learning. What he values most is not only the flexibility but also the global perspective that the university offers.

“I appreciate the diversity of the student community at UoPeople. In my classes, I interact with people from all over the world, each with different experiences and perspectives. It has helped me think more critically and understand global challenges in a broader way. The courses are also practical, especially in business and management, and I can apply what I learn to real-life situations.”

Outside of his studies, Nizamuddin balances multiple roles. He works as an English tutor and is also an active football coach, holding an AFC ‘C’ license and training youth teams. Managing these responsibilities alongside his studies requires discipline and adaptability.

“Balancing work and studies is not always easy. There are days when the internet is unstable or power cuts disrupt my schedule, and I am forced to rely on my smartphone to complete my coursework. But I remind myself why I started this journey. My work as a teacher and coach also motivates me. I want to be a role model for young people and show them that education can open doors.”

Looking ahead, Nizamuddin’s goals are rooted in both personal growth and community impact.

“My dream is to combine my knowledge of business with my experience in teaching and sports. I want to create programs that support young people, especially in Afghanistan, by giving them access to education and sports development opportunities. I also hope to continue growing professionally and take on leadership roles where I can make a meaningful difference.”

For Nizamuddin, education represents more than academic achievement—it is a path toward possibility and change.

“Being a student at UoPeople has given me hope. It has shown me that even in challenging circumstances, education can create opportunities and help you move forward.”

Through resilience, discipline, and a strong sense of purpose, Nizamuddin is not only building his own future—he is working to create opportunities for others.
