“UoPeople Gave Me Confidence to Build a Better Future”: Imtiaz K., Health Science Student

Imtiaz K., Health Science, Pakistan

Born and raised in Peshawar, Pakistan, Imtiaz K. grew up in a modest household where education was deeply valued despite financial limitations. Now in his early twenties, he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health Science at University of the People on scholarship while also completing another bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology in Pakistan.

From an early age, Imtiaz learned the importance of resilience, patience, and hard work. After completing his early education at Government College Peshawar, he remained determined to continue his studies even when financial struggles and personal responsibilities made higher education difficult.

“One of the biggest challenges I have faced in life has been balancing financial struggles with academic ambitions,” he shares. “However, these experiences strengthened my determination instead of discouraging me.”

While searching online for affordable and accessible higher education opportunities, Imtiaz discovered UoPeople. The university’s mission of making quality education available to students regardless of their financial background immediately resonated with him.

“As someone who dreamed of earning an internationally recognized degree, UoPeople gave me hope,” he says.

The flexibility of online learning convinced him to enroll. Since beginning his studies, Imtiaz has appreciated the support he has found within UoPeople’s global learning community.

“What I like most about studying at UoPeople is the supportive learning environment,” he explains. “My peers are from all over the world. I enjoy interacting with classmates from varied cultural backgrounds. It has broadened my perspective and improved my communication skills.”

Balancing two degree programs at once requires discipline, consistency, and careful time management. Yet Imtiaz sees the challenge as a meaningful investment in his future and in the communities he hopes to serve one day.

His passion lies in health sciences, communication disorders, and supporting underserved populations through healthcare and education. Looking ahead, he hopes to pursue postgraduate and research studies, ideally at a university in the United States.

“I hope to contribute to research and professional practice that can positively impact people’s lives,” he says.

Outside of academics, Imtiaz enjoys learning languages, reading about health and linguistics, writing, and helping others improve their communication skills. He has also explored freelancing and translation work, experiences that have contributed to both his professional and personal growth.

Despite the demands of balancing studies, responsibilities, and future ambitions, Imtiaz remains motivated by the progress he has made and the goals he continues to pursue.

“Being a UoPeople student has given me confidence that students facing financial and personal challenges can still pursue meaningful education and build a better future,” he says.

At University of the People, students like Imtiaz continue to demonstrate how determination and accessible education can create opportunities far beyond circumstance. We are proud of him and wish him all the best.
