Computer Science Student, Bryan N. Wants to Build a Career in Network Engineering
Bryan N., Computer Science, United States
Based out of San Diego, California, Bryan N. is earning his bachelor’s degree in computer science at UoPeople. From his younger days, he has been interested in computers. “I was always fascinated by how people in IT knew how to navigate and troubleshoot issues. Their tech skills were so aspirational for me. I would read up on the latest advancements in technology and enjoy knowing how things functioned. I am curious about tech because I find it so useful,” he shares excitedly.
Bryan graduated high school with a dream of earning a college degree but financial circumstances never allowed him space to invest in an expensive traditional American college degree. “I attended a community college and struggled badly with my courses. Nothing seemed to work. I had to discontinue, sadly,” he shares.
How did Bryan find out about UoPeople? “I researched schools based on affordability. Even after finding out about UoPeople, I didn’t enroll right away. I knew I needed time to research the school properly before committing to full-time college. I spoke with a program advisor at the university who explained everything in detail and reassured me about all the steps involved in the process. Flexibility in learning and affordability were my major requirements. I discussed my plan with my friends as well and they gave me the confidence to make the final decision. I am so glad to have found University of the People. The flexibility at UoPeople works for me—I like being able to choose my own schedule,” he says.
Bryan enjoys being completely in charge of his deadlines, study material, and what courses he wants to take. He also loves working with and learning from his global peers. He believes his peers offer a unique perspective that helps him to learn much more than he would have if left to study alone in an online school.
“I have been able to manage so much in my life because I have amazing friends. It’s been rewarding for me to be surrounded by people who want to see me succeed. My peers, advisors, and instructors at UoPeople are also very helpful. They encourage me and give me thoughtful feedback whenever I need it,” he says.
Bryan sees his education at UoPeople as an opportunity to grow and plans to build a career in network engineering. When not working or studying, he likes to read, play the piano, and take long walks in nature.
As a university, we derive great satisfaction from Bryan’s accomplishments and wish him all the best for his future.
