Babatunde O., Business Administration, UAE
Originally from Nigeria and now based in the UAE, Babatunde O. is currently earning his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at University of the People. Determination, setbacks, and an unwavering belief in the power of learning have marked his path to higher education. Despite facing significant personal and financial challenges, he never gave up on his dream of earning a university degree and creating a better future for himself.
After completing college, Babatunde hoped to continue his education abroad. Believing it would be the next step toward achieving his goals, he pursued an opportunity through an agency that promised to help him study overseas. Instead, he found himself in a difficult situation after being misled and relocating to Dubai under false expectations.
The experience brought tremendous stress and uncertainty. During that period, Babatunde also experienced the loss of his father, a tragedy that remains one of the most difficult moments of his life.
Despite these setbacks, Babatunde remained committed to his education. He continued searching for a university that would allow him to pursue his ambitions and found UoPeople.
“UoPeople helped me to continue my education,” he says. “It helped make my dream possible.”
Babatunde chose UoPeople because of its tuition-free model, global accessibility, and commitment to providing quality education to students regardless of their background or circumstances. The university’s flexibility also allowed him to continue learning while managing other responsibilities.
One of the aspects he values most about studying at UoPeople is the ability to learn from anywhere and on a schedule that fits his life. He also appreciates being part of a diverse international community where students bring different perspectives and experiences to classroom discussions.
“The flexibility has made education accessible in a way that would not have been possible for me otherwise,” he says.
As a Business Administration student, Babatunde sees his degree as a foundation for future career growth. He believes the knowledge and skills he is developing will help him become more competitive in today’s global workforce while strengthening his critical thinking, communication, and adaptability.
He also values the opportunity to learn alongside students from around the world, an experience that has broadened his cultural understanding and expanded his perspective.
Looking ahead, Babatunde hopes to use his education to build a successful career and continue growing both personally and professionally. More importantly, he hopes his journey can encourage others who may be struggling through difficult circumstances.
“For those who are suffering in silence, never give up,” he says.
His story is a reminder that setbacks do not have to define the future. With perseverance, support, and a commitment to learning, it is possible to keep moving forward—even when the road ahead seems uncertain.
