Abobakar O., Business Administration, Afghanistan

Abobakar O. is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration at University of the People while living in Afghanistan, where access to opportunity is often uncertain. Despite growing up in a conflict-affected environment, he remains focused on building a future through education—one defined by resilience, discipline, and purpose.

“I have always believed that education is the foundation for a better future,” he shares.

Raised in a family that deeply valued education despite limited financial resources, Abobakar developed a strong interest in academics from an early age—particularly in mathematics. His dedication and perseverance paid off when he graduated from high school as one of the top students in his class.

However, his path forward was not without challenges.

Growing up in Afghanistan meant facing both financial and social barriers. Limited access to educational resources, combined with economic constraints, made pursuing higher education difficult. Yet rather than discouraging him, these challenges strengthened his resolve.

Determined to continue his education, Abobakar began searching for opportunities that aligned with both his ambitions and his reality. That search led him to UoPeople.

“I was looking for an affordable, accredited university that was also internationally recognized,” he explains. “UoPeople’s mission to provide accessible, tuition-free education truly resonated with me. Since I enrolled here, the experience has been deeply empowering.”

What stands out most to him is the flexibility of online learning and the diversity of the student community at UoPeople.

“Being able to study from anywhere allows me to continue my education despite challenges,” he says. “At the same time, interacting with peers from different cultural and professional backgrounds has broadened my perspective.”

The university’s peer-learning model has also played a significant role in shaping his academic growth.

“It has strengthened my independent thinking, communication skills, and self-discipline.”

For Abobakar, education is not just about earning a degree—it is about building a foundation for leadership and impact. His long-term goals are rooted in both personal success and community development.

“I want to develop knowledge in business and leadership, and contribute positively to my community,” he shares. “I hope to promote ethical leadership, sustainable development, and greater educational opportunities for young people.”

Outside of his studies, Abobakar continues to invest in his personal growth. He enjoys reading about leadership and self-development, participating in community-based activities, and maintaining physical fitness as part of a balanced lifestyle.

Balancing these commitments requires discipline and careful time management—skills he continues to strengthen throughout his journey.

“My education is not only about obtaining a degree,” he says. “It is about building character, resilience, and a lifelong commitment to learning.”

Despite the challenges of his environment, Abobakar remains focused, motivated, and forward-looking. His story reflects a quiet but powerful determination to rise above limitations and create meaningful change.

Through education, he is not only shaping his own future—he is preparing to make a meaningful impact on his community. We are truly proud of students like Abobakar and wish him all the best for his future.
