UoPeople Partnering with Homeschooling for College Credit to Help High School Students Complete Degrees Online

Homeschooling for college credits

University of the People announced today that it is partnering with Homeschooling for College Credit (HS4CC) to help homeschooled high school students that have earned college credits complete their degrees online. HS4CC is a nonprofit organization that helps tens of thousands of homeschooled students earn affordable college credit every year.

UoPeople, the first non-profit, tuition-free, American, accredited online university, currently enrolls more than 126,000 students from over 200 countries and territories. The university offers associate and bachelor’s degree programs in business administration, computer science, and health science, as well as MBA, M.Ed., and MSIT programs.

“As one of the largest online universities in America, UoPeople is proud to partner with the Homeschooling for College Credit organization to create affordable and flexible pathways for high school students to easily transfer their college coursework to our institution so they can earn an associate or bachelor’s degree,” said UoPeople President Shai Reshef.

Currently there are more than 3.1 million homeschooled students in grades K-12 in the United States, according to the National Home Education Research Institute. Many of these students take college-level classes while completing their high school graduation requirements, demonstrating their knowledge and dedication to succeed in a college environment. As these students apply to college, they often face challenges such as acceptance of their college credits and the high cost of completing a college credential at a traditional university. UoPeople is changing that by offering a low-cost pathway to earning their degree.

“I am thrilled that the University of the People has selected Homeschooling for College Credit as their partner to advance postsecondary education access for homeschoolers,” says Jennifer Cook DeRosa, Executive Director at HS4CC. “Through this collaboration, homeschoolers will have access to alternative college credits and transfer credits, helping them finish a degree tuition-free after high school. As mission-driven organizations, both Homeschooling for College Credit and University of the People are dedicated to breaking down barriers to higher education, and we’re excited to work together to achieve this goal.”

UoPeople also is in the process of creating partnerships with a number of community colleges across the country to help their graduates increase their career opportunities and earning power by completing their bachelor’s degree for thousands of dollars less than at traditional universities.

To support the university’s commitment to helping community college graduates during Community College Awareness Month this April, UoPeople is waiving the transfer credit fee for all community college graduates. This includes homeschooled students who have completed their associate degree. This offer is only valid for the month of April.
