[Pasadena, CA. March 17 2020] – University of the People announces its initiative to offer its online, American, accredited courses to any university, enabling their students to take UoPeople courses for credit.

University of the People will open all 115 of its accredited courses in General Education, Business Administration, Computer Science, Health Science, and Education, to other universities. Interested universities will be able to select the relevant courses, which will be taught by University of the People faculty, and students will be granted credit for these courses at their university.

During these unprecedented times, many universities are scrambling to move online to enable their students to continue their studies. “Universities are facing an enormous challenge in having to shut down campuses and start up online, all without sacrificing educational quality. However, online education is not simply improvising with the internet; it is an actual practice that requires technology and expertise,” said Shai Reshef, President of University of the People. “Because we have been online for more than ten years, we are in a unique position to offer our courses to all interested institutions.”

University of the People is willing to train other university professors in the techniques and strategies for teaching courses online. Furthermore, faculty from partnering institutions will be able to participate in a full course with their students so that in the future, they will be able to teach it themselves using University of the People’s courseware and pedagogy.  Interested universities should contact Caroline Powers, Chief of Staff, University of the People at caroline.powers@uopeople.edu.

University of the People has over a decade of experience delivering high-quality, accredited degree programs to students around the world. It is the first non-profit, tuition-free, American accredited online university and currently enrolls about 27,000 students from over 200 countries and territories. The University’s student enrollment has doubled each year over the last five years. Unlike massive open online courses (MOOCs), which have only a 5% completion rate per course, at University of the People 85% of first-year students move on to their second year.

“University of the People’s mission is to ensure that all qualified students are able to pursue higher education,” said Shai Reshef. “It is a natural extension of our mission and work to offer our courses to any university in need.”
