Computer Science Student, Ahmed A. Believes Learning at UoPeople is Enhancing His Problem-Solving and Technical Skills

Computer Science Associate Degree Student at UoPeople

Ahmed A., Computer Science, UAE

Ahmed A. hails from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and Damascus, Syria, where exposure to diverse cultures and traditions shaped his worldview. His early educational journey was marked by engagements in various schools and countless extracurricular activities.

Attending different schools made him quite adaptable, instilling a deep appreciation for various cultures and ethics. This diverse exposure gives him a unique perspective and helps him connect easily with people from different cultures. He forges lasting friendships wherever he goes—which has been his survival tactic while living in different countries.

Ahmed describes himself as an “effective communicator with unique people skills.” He feels these attributes have always been the cornerstone of his career. He loves new and varied experiences in his professional and personal life. “Each experience has been a step toward my goal: tech innovation,” he says.

His mother, a painter, greatly influenced him and inspired him to think and work creatively. He has spent countless hours since childhood handcrafting small projects from paper and cartons. His hobbies not only honed his creativity but also taught him the value of seeing projects through from conception to completion.

Ahmed’s decision to enroll at University of the People was significantly influenced by the university’s strong reputation for providing high-quality online programs and flexible learning that makes it possible for learners to balance academic pursuits and professional obligations at the same time. “The flexibility offered in my program helps me effectively manage my work and family responsibilities. I don’t have to compromise any area of my life to earn my degree,” he says.

He anticipates that earning an associate degree in computer science will considerably improve his career prospects, as his curriculum offers a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential to excel in technology. “I chose my program based on my experience in the tech industry. Although I have practical experience and a solid understanding of how technology functions, I recognize the importance of formal education to structure and deepen my knowledge. I am currently based out of UAE and look forward to all the exciting opportunities and possibilities in my current position and beyond after earning this degree. My education is enhancing my problem-solving and technical abilities, which are must-haves to grow in any fast-evolving industry,” he explains.

As a university with a mission to empower learners from across the globe, we are excited to see Ahmed make great strides in the world of technology. We wish him all the best for his future.
