“UoPeople Has Strengthened My Belief in Education Being a Fundamental Human Right,” Says Mona H., an M.Ed. Student

Mona H. was born and raised in Egypt—the land of Pharaohs and timeless history. From her secondary school days, she discovered a natural love for teaching children. That passion set the foundation for her career as an educator. She is currently finishing her M.Ed. degree at University of the People.

Mona finds herself constantly inspired in classrooms. “My young learners always surprise me with their abilities, attitudes, and curiosity to discover new things. I have been teaching, evaluating, and developing curriculum for classrooms for over ten years now, and I absolutely love learning from my students. They truly inspire me,” she shares.

Mona sees true teaching as something more than just lessons and grades. “It’s about aligning educational, personal, and professional experiences with the greater mission of shaping lives.”

To strengthen that mission, she records and reflects on her own professional development, which includes her participation in leadership programs, earning project management certifications, and pursuing other forms of growth that enrich her journey as an educator.

Why did Mona decide to earn an M.Ed. degree at UoPeople? “I was inspired by the power of online education and had been searching for universities that could offer me the best experience while elevating my studies to a truly global level. After extensive research, I found the perfect choice—University of the People.”

Balancing a big family, professional responsibilities, and rigorous studies hasn’t been easy, but Mona manages to thrive in all areas. “My experience at UoPeople has been remarkable. It’s a very supportive community of peers and instructors. Studying online feels quite convenient to me. I get to use the best study resources and learn with great ease with my international peers. The flexibility offered here is quite helpful.”

For Mona, earning her degree is all about gaining new perspectives, practical experiences, and learning alongside a professional community that stretches across borders. “The experience has reshaped my view of education and strengthened my belief in learning being a fundamental human right—not a privilege.”

Today, Mona proudly carries that mission forward. She is dedicated to spreading the vision of accessible, affordable, and high-quality education for all—especially in the Arabic region. Her story is not only about personal growth; it’s about showing others that, no matter the obstacles, education has the power to transform lives.

We are proud of Mona and wish her the best as she continues to inspire others.
