Based in Bangladesh, Mahatab Azmaine R. is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health Science at University of the People. Growing up in Sherpur in the Mymensingh district of Bangladesh, he always believed that education could open doors to a better life—not just for himself, but for the people around him. “My goal is not only to earn a degree but also to build a better life through education and contribute meaningfully to society,” he says.

Mahatab was raised in a modest family where financial resources were limited, but the importance of education was never questioned. From a young age, he understood that while opportunities may be scarce, determination can create new ones.

His studies in local schools sparked a growing interest in science and health-related subjects. Over time, he became increasingly aware of the importance of healthcare, public awareness, and community well-being. He realized that improving people’s health and raising awareness could change lives, especially in communities where resources are limited.

“Like many students in developing regions, I faced financial difficulties and limited access to quality educational resources. Family responsibilities added another layer of challenge to my academic journey. Yet these obstacles never stopped me from moving forward. There were moments when the future felt uncertain, but I learned that challenges do not end dreams—they push us to find new paths,” he explains.

Mahatab first learned about UoPeople through social media while searching for opportunities to continue his education. “The university’s affordable, flexible, and internationally recognized programs immediately stood out to me. UoPeople gave me a chance to pursue higher education while still supporting my family and managing my responsibilities.”

Studying at UoPeople has introduced him to a global learning environment where students from different countries collaborate and exchange ideas. The university’s peer-learning model has strengthened his analytical thinking, communication skills, and confidence. “Learning with classmates from around the world has broadened my perspective and helped me understand global health challenges more deeply.”

Through his Health Science studies, Mahatab is developing knowledge that directly connects to real-world issues. His long-term goal is to work in the health sector, focusing on community health and preventive care. He hopes to raise health awareness among rural and underserved populations in Bangladesh and promote accurate health information that can improve the quality of life. “Health education is not only about treatment—it is about awareness, prevention, and helping people live healthier lives,” he adds.

Outside of his studies, Mahatab enjoys spending time with his family and focusing on personal development. He regularly reads educational materials, watches informative content, and stays informed about health and social issues. These habits help him continue learning beyond the classroom while preparing for the impact he hopes to make in the future.

Today, Mahatab continues his academic journey with perseverance and determination. Balancing responsibilities while pursuing higher education has strengthened his discipline and commitment to his goals. “My journey represents hope and self-belief. Every step forward makes me stronger,” he reflects.

Mahatab is working toward a future where he can contribute not only to his own success but also to the well-being of his family, his community, and his country. As a university with a mission to empower learners like him, we are inspired by his positive outlook and proud of how far he has come.. We wish him all the best for the future.
