More commonly referred to by its acronym, putting the CEO at the top of the list for the best business careers is only fitting. A chief executive officer is at the pinnacle of any business and typically answers the board of directors. CEOs make big decisions, develop policies, and lead the short and long-term strategies of a company. You can become a CEO with a bachelor’s degree and years of experience or an MBA. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that CEOs earn an average of $98,980 per year and that the profession is growing at 8% between 2020 and 2030, which is as fast as average.

2. Entrepreneur

Like CEOs, entrepreneurs get to also call the shots. While the career of an entrepreneur is versatile, it requires a lot of time, energy, and dedication. Entrepreneurs develop new ideas or products, manage their teams, spearhead marketing, and oversee daily operations. Depending on the size and type of business they create, entrepreneurs will have varying duties. Technically speaking, anyone can become an entrepreneur, even someone without a degree. However, having a degree in business or a related field will help teach valuable skills and knowledge to become a successful entrepreneur.

3. Human Resources Manager

Human resources managers play a crucial role in any type of business. They oversee and direct the administrative functions of the organization and are primarily focused on the general well-being of their employees. In most cases, human resources managers combine work experience with at least a bachelor’s degree to hold this position. As per the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average salary for this role is $126,230. 

4. Financial Manager

If you have a knack for numbers and strategy, then becoming a financial manager could be your calling. Financial managers develop financial reports, advise on investment activities, and offer insights concerning the long-term financial goals of an organization. The minimum degree for this position is a bachelor’s degree, and per the BLS, financial managers earn an average of $131,710 per year. 

5. Operations Research Analyst

Any business aims to operate efficiently. This is where an operations research analyst can help. Operations research analysts are expert problem-solvers who know how to use statistical analysis and data mining to gauge how a business is operating and improve its use of resources. On average, this position is bound to earn $82,360 per year. 

6. Public Relations Specialist

Public relations (PR) specialists are in charge of creating and protecting the positive image of individuals and brands. They develop media messages and sometimes also social media programs to increase awareness and promote loyalty on behalf of fans and customers. According to the BLS, this field is expected to grow at 11%, which is faster than average, between 2020 and 2030, and earns an average salary of $62,800

7. Chief Marketing Officer

A chief marketing officer (CMO) is also part of the C-suite along with the CEOs, hence the term “Chief.” They plan, oversee and implement marketing campaigns to boost sales for a company. Their high-level position and view require that they understand the market through market research, know how to price products and services, and can spearhead advertising campaigns and product launches. CMO’s earn an average of $125,691.

 

8. Event Planner

Ranked as one of the best business careers, event planners also can face a high amount of stress. That’s because they are responsible for project managing events, from the start to the finish. They coordinate personnel, decorations, itinerary, location, pricing, and budgets for events like parties, concerts, festivals, weddings, and more. Their salary will depend on where they work, their clientele, and their experience level. According to PayScale, event planners earn an average base salary of $50,989 per year in the United States.
