M.Ed. Student, Theodora O. Says UoPeople is Helping Her Emerge as an Efficient Educator and Author
Theodora O., Education, Nigeria
Born and raised in Nigeria, Theodora O. is a passionate educator. She received her foundational education in Nigeria. Her deep love for education and teaching has guided her career path so far.
She began teaching in her hometown with a strong desire to make a lasting impact on young minds. She has served as a preschool and elementary educator for over eight years, with a strong emphasis on early childhood education, curriculum development, and teacher leadership. She currently teaches at the Danbo International Schools in Abuja.
Theodora always knew that to grow further and make a broader contribution, she needed to gain a global perspective. That’s why she opted to earn her master’s degree at University of the People. She is earning her Master of Education in Advanced Teaching (M.Ed.) at the university, a choice that reflects her dedication to lifelong learning and professional growth.
“I chose to study at UoPeople because of its commitment to providing quality education that is accessible and flexible. I am a busy working professional. The online format is my favorite thing about the university. It allows me to earn my degree while continuing to work full time. The affordable tuition and the diverse global peer community make it the best place to learn for someone like me. I am thankful for the valuable learning experience that transcends borders,” she shares.
Theodora’s journey at UoPeople is shaping her into a competitive and capable educator ready to thrive in the ever-evolving world of education.
“In each teaching role, I have applied knowledge gained through my program. I have improved so much in terms of curriculum delivery, staff development, and parent engagement. I love how our M.Ed. program is structured. It has made me a more effective and adaptable teacher. Each course inspires deep reflection and practical application. This transformative experience has enriched my classroom teaching and helped me author two books: Creating a Positive Classroom Environment and Curriculum Design and Instructional Decision Making. Every course has inspired my books, and I intend to continue writing to share these learnings with educators worldwide.”
Theodora is confident that her degree from UoPeople will position her as a competent educator. “It will enhance my credentials and open opportunities for career advancement. I want to apply for international teaching positions. The global perspective gained from interacting with diverse peers enables me to excel in multicultural educational settings, which I view as a big benefit.”
She also remains committed to expanding her impact beyond the classroom, especially through faith-based and community education initiatives. “As an author and educator, I aim to empower other teachers with practical tools to foster inclusive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environments.”
We are truly proud of Theodora and so happy to be supporting her on her journey. We wish her all the best for her future!
