Khalid S. grew up in a modest household where education was deeply valued, even when resources were scarce. His parents worked tirelessly to ensure their children could attend school, and although access to learning materials and technology was limited, Khalid was always encouraged to stay curious and determined. He completed his primary and secondary education locally, often studying under challenging conditions such as frequent power outages and limited internet access.

“One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is financial instability. There were times when I had to pause my education due to a lack of funds. Additionally, coming from a region affected by political tension made it more difficult to access reliable educational institutions. Despite this, I remained committed to furthering my education and seeking opportunities wherever possible,” he shares.

His breakthrough came when he discovered University of the People through a social media post about tuition-free online degrees. Intrigued, Khalid began researching and was impressed to learn that UoPeople is accredited, flexible, and accessible from anywhere in the world. “I knew it was the right fit for me. I enrolled here to earn an associate degree in Business Administration because I wanted a quality education that I could afford and manage alongside my responsibilities. I appreciate the flexibility offered at UoPeople the most. Being able to study at my own pace and fit classes around my schedule is invaluable. The peer-to-peer learning model and the supportive community of international students also make learning an enjoyable and collaborative experience. I’ve learned to think critically and manage my time better through this program. Based on the overall quality of the support and academic services, I highly recommend UoPeople to others.”

Looking ahead, Khalid aspires to complete his degree and pursue a career where he can make a meaningful contribution, perhaps in international development, technology, or education. His long-term goal is to give back to his community and help others who face the same struggles he once did. He believes the degree he is earning with us is laying the foundation for that brighter future. “Balancing family responsibilities and studies hasn’t been easy. Sometimes I study late into the night or early in the morning. But I’ve learned to stay organized and make the most of every moment. I’m currently supporting my family while studying full-time, which can be overwhelming, but I find strength in knowing that I’m building a better future not only for myself but also for those who depend on me,” he adds.

Outside of his studies, Khalid enjoys reading biographies and history books, volunteering locally, and spending time with his family. He also finds inspiration in watching educational documentaries.

Khalid’s journey is one of perseverance and hope, a testament to the power of education and determination to overcome life’s challenges. We are immensely proud of Khalid and wish him the very best as he works toward a brighter future.
