“Studying at UoPeople is Helping Me Form Friendships and Professional Connections That Truly Enhance My Experience,” says Jason K.
Jason K., Computer Science, Singapore
Jason K. is currently pursuing his Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) at University of the People. Born and raised in Singapore, Jason’s educational journey began in the nation’s rigorous school system. He went on to earn a polytechnic diploma in Electronics, Computer, and Communication Engineering from Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), followed by a Bachelor of Engineering in Product Development from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). His academic path was steady and disciplined, shaped by a childhood rooted in structure, curiosity, and a strong foundation in engineering and technology.
Jason’s journey at UoPeople began when he came across some videos online, which introduced him to the university’s mission and model. The idea of earning a master’s degree without traditional tuition fees intrigued him, but it was more than affordability that drew him in. Jason wanted to experience online learning firsthand—the kind he believes represents the future of education. He saw UoPeople as an opportunity not only to advance his career prospects in research and lecturing but also to test the quality and potential of a fully online, tuition-free institution.
Once enrolled, Jason discovered aspects of learning that he truly valued. “UoPeople’s global community allows me to connect with peers from around the world, fostering friendships and professional networks that enrich my academic experience. I particularly enjoy the university’s unique assignment structure. The discussion forums bring together voices from different cultures and industries, sparking insightful conversations. Group projects, meanwhile, offer space for collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving across diverse backgrounds—an experience I find both stimulating and rewarding,” he shares.
Looking ahead, Jason has clear goals he wants to accomplish. After completing his master’s degree, he hopes to become a solution architect. One of his long-term goals is to earn the prestigious AWS “golden jacket,” a milestone he aims to achieve within the next five years.
Outside of work and academics, Jason dedicates his free time to studying languages. He is currently learning Malay and Spanish, with plans to take the DELE A1 exam in Spanish within the next two years—a testament to his love for continuous learning.
With his international mindset, disciplined work ethic, and passion for technology and innovation, Jason K. is steadily building the future he envisions—one that blends expertise, global connection, and lifelong curiosity. As a university committed to making high-quality education accessible to all, we’re proud to support Jason on his journey and wish him every success ahead.
