The earthquakes in Syria and Turkey resulted in catastrophic losses and new challenges that hinder students of knowledge in the two countries. As most schools and universities collapsed, or the rest of them were closed as a precautionary measure to preserve the lives of learners and all kinds of “teaching, administrative and technical” bodies.

At a time when international reports stated that unaffected Turkish-Syrian universities have turned into shelters, although they are not absolutely safe, but they are better than tents and sleeping in cars and on street sidewalks. Cities and villages in both countries continue to suffer from the collapse of infrastructure in schools and universities.

Thousands of grants


In a serious step, universities from different countries of the world announced extending a helping hand to university students in Syria and Turkey. It offered thousands of free scholarships for learners, most notably the University of the People, which revealed the provision of a thousand immediate university scholarships for distance education for students, in an attempt to support relief efforts at the level of education, especially since most universities in the affected Syrian and Turkish regions were either destroyed or destroyed. turned into air hubs.

In a telephone conversation with Al-Khaleej, Dan Kalmanson, vice president of public relations at the university, confirmed that supporting students in Syria and Turkey is a humanitarian duty that cannot bear thinking about decision-making, explaining that the grants offered for distance learning are free for students, especially after Syrian and Turkish universities were severely damaged. It is very difficult for students to continue their education.

Negative effects


He believes that education should not stop; This trend has significant negative effects on the future of students, explaining that the university has been supporting Syrian students greatly for quite some time, by providing distance learning and full scholarships provided by a large number of donors, as fourteen thousand Syrians are studying at the university.

The list included other universities, including the American Stanford and New York, and a number of British and French universities; As it started a large donation campaign through hundreds of volunteers, and before it a number of Arab universities.
