Who is University of the People?
UoPeople is the first non-profit, tuition-free, American, accredited, online university. UoPeople believes that access to higher education is a basic right which promotes world peace and global economic development; and it is committed to providing a quality higher education – tuition-free. What is tuition-free?
“Tuition-free” means that unlike other universities, UoPeople doesn’t charge students tuition. Instead, students who wish to take the final exam and complete a course, they simple pay a nominal assessment fee. UoPeople also doesn’t charge students to enroll, to pay for books or other course materials, or for campus fees. Our unique online model of higher education allows us to bring the classroom to you– cutting the cost for our students overall.

Will my associates degree transfer to UoPeople?
UoPeople offers a generous transfer credit policy that allows your associates degree to transfer to the related bachelor’s degree at UoPeople. Bachelor’s degrees offered include business administration, computer science, and health science. Bachelor's Degree | University of the people (uopeople.edu)
How do I send my transcripts?
UoPeople makes the admission and transfer process easy! During the brief admission application process, you will be able to upload your OFFICIAL transcripts into your student portal. Within 72 hours, our Transfer Evaluation team will provide you with an evaluation of your transfer courses.
How do I apply for a scholarship?
Because UoPeople does not charge tuition, there is no need to fill lengthy financial aid paperwork. During the admission process, you will be asked a few brief questions to determine your eligibility for UoPeople scholarships.
My community college or technical college is not a partner with UoPeople. How can they become a partner?
UoPeople creates learning partnerships with other colleges and universities, learning organizations, businesses, and associations to help create affordable degree options globally. Contact partnerships@uopeople to learn about partnering with UoPeople.
What are the foundation courses?
UoPeople Foundation courses provide students with an understanding of the unique UoPeople method and allows them to assess whether online learning is right for them. Completing UoPeople Foundations is a requirement for all UoPeople students. Foundations courses vary according to the degree program a prospective student is interested in, whether it is an undergraduate or graduate degree.
The second foundations course is an introductory course for the major. Undergraduate students who are transferring with an associates degree and who have completed the introductory course for their chosen major are exempt from the second foundations course.
For graduate students, UoPeople Foundations courses provide students with an understanding of the unique UoPeople method and allows them to assess whether online learning is right for them.
