Alexandra Rivera
Student Success and Community Engagement Librarian, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor Library
Alexandra Rivera is the Student Success and Community Engagement Librarian at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor Library. She directs the library’s Peer Information Consulting Program, coordinates its K-12 initiatives, and serves as the library liaison to the UM’s Detroit Center and faculty, students, staff, and community partners collaborating on Detroit initiatives.
Her research interests are in the areas of equity and inclusion as it relates to library leadership, information and education access, and library instruction pedagogy.
Alexandra is an ALA Spectrum Scholar and an ARL Leadership and Career Development Program Fellow. She was awarded the American Library Association Equality Award in 2018. She is the Vice President of the Joint Council of Librarians of Color, Inc. Board of Directors and is on the American Library Association Executive Board.
She has degrees from the Northern Arizona University (B.S. Communications) and the University of Michigan (M.L.S.).
