Dr. Shawndra Hill

Shawndra Hill is a Principal Scientist at Facebook on the Core Data Science Team in NYC. Dr. Hill is also a part time Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Columbia University. Broadly, she studies the alignment of data science with business problems. Specifically, she researches the value to companies of mining data on how consumers interact with each other on online platforms — for targeted marketing, advertising, public health and fraud detection purposes. Shawndra also serves in academic leadership roles including the Board on Mathematical Science and Analytics at the National Academies of Sciences Engineering and Medicine, Senior Fellow at Wharton Customer Analytics and Senior Editor at the INFORMS International Journal on Data Science.
Prior to joining Facebook, Dr. Hill was a Senior Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research in NYC, a professor in the Operations and Information Management Department at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Commissioning Engineer at Siemens Energy & Automation. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Spelman College, a B.E.E. from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from NYU’s Stern School of Business.
