Dr. Maha ElShinnawy

Professor of Leadership and Ethics, The American University in Cairo

Dr. Maha ElShinnawy is a Professor of Leadership and Ethics at The American University in Cairo (AUC) and is the Founding Director of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Program. Recently, she was named as one of the most powerful 100 Arab women globally, one of the top 10 most powerful Women, and one of the top 50 best performing women in Egypt. At AUC she served as Associate Dean for research and graduate studies and as The Willard D. Brown Chair in International Leadership in the School of Business at AUC.

Previously, she was a tenured Associate Professor at the Lowry Mays College and Graduate School of Business at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Dr. ElShinnawy earned her Ph.D. from The Anderson School at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and is widely cited in the most prestigious academic journals and conferences for her research in the areas of: Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Business Ethics, Social Media, and Group polarization and decision making in organizations.

Dr. ElShinnawy has been recognized for her teaching, research and service excellence at UCLA, Texas A&M University and The American University in Cairo. She has been quoted internationally in Business Week, CNNmoney.com, Time Magazine, Associated Press, Herald Tribune, The Financial Times, Voice of America, among others. She is a Certified Extraordinary and Values Driven Leadership Coach and served in The Academy of Future International Leaders at the George Bush School of International Business of Texas A&M University. She also serves as a member of the Academic Board of Cyprus International Institute of Management. She is the Chair of the Board of Trustees at Cairo American College. She is also a certified: Spinning instructor, Yoga Instructor and a Les Mills Body Pump Instructor.
