UoPeople Foundations courses provide students with an understanding of the unique UoPeople method and allows them to assess whether online learning is right for them. Completing UoPeople Foundations is a requirement for all UoPeople students. Foundations courses vary according to the degree program a prospective student is interested in, whether it is an undergraduate or graduate degree.
1. Undergraduates
Foundations courses are one of the admissions requirements to enroll in an undergraduate degree program. In their first term, newly admitted Foundations students will be placed in two courses: UNIV 1001 and an additional course that will be assigned according to the students’ major of interest, i.e. BA – BUS 1101, CS – CS 1101, HS – PSYC 1111. Please note, assigning courses that relate to the major of interest depends on how early students save their spot in each term and on general availability. Once students complete their first two Foundations courses, they will be able to select up to 3 more Foundations courses from the list below:

Once students meet the degree program’s admissions criteria, including successfully completing the Foundations courses, they may enroll in their desired degree program. Foundations students are not considered enrolled students at the University before completing all admission requirements. In most cases, students will be granted credit for all completed UoPeople Foundations courses once accepted to their desired degree program.
2. Graduates
Foundations courses are one of the graduate degree program’s admissions criteria. In their first term, newly admitted Foundations students will be placed in Foundations courses related to their desired Master’s degree program. Please note, assigning courses that relate to the major of interest depends on how early students save their spot in each term and on general availability. More information about these courses can be found under the course catalog. Once students complete their first three Foundation courses, they will be able to select one more Foundations course from the list below.

Foundations students are not considered enrolled students at the University before completing all admission requirements. In most cases, students will be granted credit for all courses completed during UoPeople Foundations courses with a passing grade once accepted to their desired degree program.
