About Federal University Gusau

Federal University, Gusau (FUGUS) is a federal university in Gusau, Zamfara State, north-western Nigeria, one of the last three new federal universities established in states that previously lacked one, following an initial phase of nine such universities in 2011. FUGUS’s establishment commenced on 18 February 2013, and the university began its first academic year in 2014/2015 with a School of Pre-Science Studies and three faculties: Humanities and Education, Management and Social Science, and Science. FUGUS has since added a College of Health Sciences, offering a Bachelor of Nursing Science degree.

FUGUS’s motto is „Knowledge, Innovation and Service.“ The university has faced disruption from regional insecurity, including a 2023 incident in which some students were kidnapped.
