PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL

"LIFELINES" TO AFGHAN WOMEN

Dear Azat ,

"Girls like me have a bitter fate under Taliban dictatorship.
I want the right to be educated like any other woman in the world.
I want to break the doors that keep me isolated.
Many thanks to University of People for giving me a chance to study.
I hope the same for all Afghans who are deprived of education."

- P.M. (to protect the student's identity, we are only using her initials)

This email is from one of the thousands of Afghan women who have applied to UoPeople since the Taliban banned all women from universities in their country on December 20, 2022. Since that fateful day, more than 6,000 Afghan women desperate to continue their education have applied to UoPeople; bringing the total number of applicants to over 15,000 since the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021.

To date, UoPeople has awarded more than 2,000 scholarships to Afghan women but as you can see the demand far exceeds the financial assistance the university can provide. That’s why UoPeople needs your help to fund additional scholarships to provide critically needed educational “lifelines” for the women of Afghanistan. Please consider making a donation today – the future of these brave Afghan women depends on your support.
