What is my first step as a student?

Before the first term begins each new student is assigned a designated username and password to log into the University of the People online platform and courses. All new students are registered for their first term courses by the Office of Student Services.

You will automatically be enrolled in the UoPeople Foundations courses for your first term. Completing UoPeople Foundations is a requirement for all UoPeople students. They are specifically designed to equip students with the necessary skills needed to thrive in their chosen academic degree studies at the University. At the undergraduate level, students must complete two Foundations courses. At the Graduate level, students can complete between three and four Foundations courses.
Once students complete their online application, they will be considered for admission to the UoPeople Foundations Courses, and may begin studying in the upcoming term.

These courses are defined by the student course of study and major. Courses, communication and interacting with your classmates are conducted through the UoPeople Moodle Virtual Learning Environment. You will be instructed on how to use Moodle in the introductory course ‘Online Education Strategies.’ Courses take place over a nine week term. Each term has eight weekly learning units, one week for preparation and taking the final exam. New students can read more about our study process by looking at the links on the Student Portal homepage.
